Chanting of the Divine Mercy Chaplet

We are singing the Divine Mercy Chaplet
at 3:00 P.M. every Saturday.
This devotion, which was blessed by
St. John Paul II and is celebrated throughout the world is a great way of pleading for God’s mercy.

Please consider attending these public prayer events.

Growing Season is Here

Past midseason, all the early crops of radishes, turnips, green onions and garlic have been harvested. Chard, kale, cabbage and beets will continue to yield until the first frosts.

The main crops of green beans, summer squash, cucumbers, peppers and tomatillos are ripening. During the first week of August volunteers looked closely to find a few pounds of fruit on the vines and now those same vines are prolific, giving 50 pounds or more on one of the twice-weekly harvest days.

The food banks say that clients from Boulder, Nederland, Longmont and east county all appreciate the fresh crisp produce and the variety it brings to meals for them and their households.

Soon tomatoes, eggplant, onions and winter squash will add to the mix of Jubilee produce. Soon also, children who have regularly helped in the garden will be returning to their classrooms. Volunteers able to pick beans or peppers now through the end of September are warmly welcomed.

An Update on Church Repairs

In April of this year the parish obtained bids on the roof to fix the flashing and gutters.  The bids revealed many issues concerning the roof.

Pie Consulting and Engineering reviewed the entire roof and prepared a report.  This report showed many different leaks and problems.  The consensus after seeing this report was to replace the roof.

The roof of the church was replaced in 2000 when the addition was built, but has since received little maintenance and is deteriorating. The gutters, thought to be the main issue at one point, are still a prominent and important issue and will be replaced due to sagging, corrosion, and general deterioration. They will also be installed to keep water from penetrating the brick and mortar of the church. The steeple windows and the roof in general will also be re-flashed to prevent water from rolling into the brick and mortar of the church.

A professional roofing company, along with an independent roof engineer, will start work on the project after a bid is accepted later this year and then the interior walls will  be repaired.
